Lil Bub Releasing Her Debut Album: ‘Science & Magic’

Just as we thought 2015 could not get any more surreal after it was announced that Pope Francis will be releasing a prog rock album, Internet cat sensation Lil Bub upped the ante by also announcing she will be releasing an album this year, which I am fairly certain will finally cause the Internet to implode on itself.*

Now, not only does it sound a little odd that a silly little cat would be releasing an instrumental album, but to top it off she has Andrew W.K. (a musician known for his love of parties, partying hard at parties and, of course, motivational speaking) writing the press release for the album, titled “Science & Magic.”

“It may seem impossible that a cat could compose an entire album of carefully crafted instrumental music, but BUB is not simply “a cat”. She came from the deep unknown, on an intergalactic mission to help the people and animals of earth with her magic, talents, and otherworldly wisdom. I can attest to her power—the time I spent with her absolutely made me a better person.
The songs on this album are the soundtrack to BUB’s universal adventure, and a soundtrack to the universe itself. You’ll feel transported by the music’s stimulating spirit, and taken to places beyond your imagination’s limits, all the while experiencing the sonic aura of BUB’s loving and compassionate presence.
BUB is more than just a “muse”; she wrote this music and used the musicians on this album (BUB’s dude, Mike, and his close friend Matt, who is also the official bubbysitter), as her creative vessels to get the music from inside of her spirit and into your mind. If it weren’t for BUB, this music would not exist.”

It is actually also for a good cause. According to Pitchfork, “One quarter of the album’s net profits will go to Lil BUB’s Big FUND for the ASPCA to benefit special needs pets.” Lil Bub and her owner, Mike Bridavsky, have helped raise more than $300,000 for animals in need, according to their website.

6. Another Voyage
7. Science and Magic

*FULL DISCLOSURE: I am a fairly snarky person when it comes to pop culture, but I have to admit: I love Lil Bub. My wife Gina and I have two rescue cats, so my pop culture Kryptonite is basically silly, cute cats and their online presence fills me with more ridiculous happiness than I would otherwise care to admit.
