Everybody seems to have an artist/musician/band they simply cannot stand. For me, it is The Eagles. Not that I find their soft, generic California rock insulting, but I once had a babysitter who wore out the grove on my dad’s vinyl of “Hotel California” in what can only be described as a precursor for that “enhanced interrogation” the CIA uses on criminals and suspected terrorists. Because of that incident, I get ill whenever I hear the band’s music.
Be that as it may, some people take their anger of certain musicians to other levels. Like the person who started a Change.org petition rallying against the return of former Genesis drummer and a man who may have been lost in a Land of Confusion since his retirement, Phil Collins.
The petition, “Phil Collins must be stopped” already has more than 2,000 signatures from people who probably do not care whether or not Collins can or cannot dance. According to the petition’s creator, Brian Pee, “Phil Collins has announced he is ‘no longer in retirement’. There is far too much suffering in the world as it is. This must be stopped.”
Pee, it seems, is showing his True Colors. He is rallying against that feeling we get — that can only be described as Another Day in Paradise — when listening Collins’ music. If he just gave Collins a chance, then perhaps Against All Odds he would appreciate the magic that is the song “In The Air Tonight.”
