This year will be packed with super hero movies — “Batman V Superman,” “Deadpool,” “X-Men: Apocalypse,” “Captain America: Civil War,” “Dr. Strange” and “Gambit” to name a few. Yet, the one I am finding more and more interesting is “Suicide Squad” — the Worst. Heroes. Ever.
The trailer still doesn’t give much away as far as the plot is concerned — at least, nothing beyond the fact the government has turned some of the more evil/insane villains from the DC Comics rogues gallery into a unit to save the world (or more likely, to stop The Joker).
Along with Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody,” this trailer seems to make the film look a little more fun than the dark and gritty “Batman V Superman.” Which is a sign of hope that the DCCU will not be all dour, dark and full of intense grimacing. It has an almost glam rock look to it, but it certainly has caught my attention. If anything, this trailer has squashed a lot of doubts I initially had toward this film.
“Suicide Squad” opens Aug. 5.
