On Thursday, the official trailer for “Star Wars: Rogue One” dropped. Since the Olympic Games were airing in the newsroom, my nerd-radar went right off at the mere mutter of “Star Wars” by some announcer. And here it is.
So what do we have: A desert planet, a criminal being asked to join a mission, Forest Whitaker with the craziest haircut I have seen in a long time, plans for a new weapons test (Death Star) and a brief shot of (SPOILERS!) Darth Vader.
This film looks a lot darker than the other films. And since it doesn’t fall under the numerical titled episodes, it is safe to assume these spin-off films that fall under “A Star Wars Story” will have a little more freedom to change in tone from the main films.
This film is about how the Rebellion got the plans for the Death Star, and takes place just before “Episode IV: A New Hope.” It comes out Dec. 16, 2016.
